Nextleaf NewsletterA newsletter went out today to those registered for their emails:

As many brands rush to enter the legal market in Canada and establish an early stronghold, those that deliver value, quality, and efficacy will build consumer trust and sustain their position. If the cannabis products you’re consuming don’t deliver the outcome sought or you have an undesirable consumption experience, a repeat purchase is unlikely.

Matching the right method of consumption (i.e. vape, edible, beverage) to the consumption occasion, and the consumer’s comfort level with cannabis is fundamental to an effective outcome. While cannabis retailers have a stake in helping guide product selection at point-of-sale, brands have a responsibility to provide an adequate selection to meet their consumers’ needs and desirable products to pull them into retail.

Nextleaf is well positioned to supply Commercial Partners with a selection of product concepts and bulk ingredients for the development of innovative and competitive cannabis derivative products based around the pillars of quality, efficacy, and value.

Building an effective product strategy and healthy R&D pipeline should consider several types of innovation:
  • New product concepts
  • Line extensions to bring new flavours, cannabinoid potencies, or formats to market
  • Reformulations including ingredient or process upgrades to improve the consumption experience or cost of goods
Nextleaf’s ingredients and formulations can be used in a breadth of product concepts that span across multiple regulatory categories. This offers the ability to formulate products with a variety of potencies and methods of consumption, using versatile ingredients standardized for consistency and quality.

The next generation of cannabis consumer has more sophisticated taste and higher expectations than ever before. This corresponds with their familiarity with consumer-packaged-goods akin to the cannabis products they are seeking, such as beverages, edibles, and topicals. The right technology and supply partners are critical for commercial success.

Our high purity distillate is the basis for all ingredients and product concepts we offer. Produced through our patented extraction process, at Canada’s most innovative cannabis refinery, we offer competitive pricing on bulk ingredient sales. Made from our distillate, Rapid Emulsion Technologyis sold as a stock concentrate for subsequent formulation and product development.
With higher allowable potency limits, concentrates and extracts deliver on value and offer more discreet and health conscious consumption methods compared to smokable cannabis. Nextleaf’s distillate is used in the formulation of vapes and Rapid Emulsion Technology in the formulation of fast acting drink drops. These products appeal to both the high tolerance seasoned consumer and category newcomers alike.

Social consumption settings, micro-dosing moments, and topical applications can be explored through infused products, such as ready-to-drink beverages, edibles, and creams for body-care. In liquid or powder format, our Rapid Emulsion Technology is recommended for these types of infused products as they require fast onset for best results. We believe speed-to-market matters greatly, as this category is the least crowded and offers a prime opportunity for new brands that successfully commercialize products.

Nextleaf Solutions CEO Paul Pedersen joins Steve Darling to discuss the company's 50th issued patent milestone and recent commercial success.

Amanda Ford joined the Nextleaf Solutions team in the Fall of 2020, bringing a wealth of industry knowledge and skill as the former Director of Quality for Canopy Growth’s Delta facility, BC Tweed. Prior to her career in cannabis, Amanda was a Quality and Regulatory Specialist for two different medical device start-ups.

Amanda has championed knowledge management and process improvement with all quality systems she has worked with. She was drawn to the cannabis industry by the challenge of learning a newly regulated industry. Furthermore, she looks forward to what new research discoveries around cannabis will be found in the next few years.

As OILS’ Quality Assurance Manager, Amanda will continually update and improve our team as regulations evolve. Nextleaf is excited to see the impact on efficiencies and procedures she will undoubtedly make on our Quality and Regulations team. When she is not working, Amanda likes to volunteer, ski, and her favourite food is sushi.

Welcome to the team Amanda!
