Aphria Inc. APHA

Aphria, which is headquartered in Ontario, produces and sells medicinal and recreational cannabis. The company operates through retail and wholesale channels in Canada and internationally. Aphria is a main distributor of medical cannabis to Germany and has operations in over 10 countries outside of Canada. However, it does not have exposure to the U.S. CBD or THC markets due to the constraints of federal prohibition. It has some U.S. exposure through the acquisition of SweetWater, a craft brewer

Synergies

SynergiesAphria aquired the number one new craft beer in the US that is literally named 420.  Their various 420 strains of craft brews already use terpenes and they already have an annual festival, "SweetWater 420 Fest".  This is a great aquisition.  Aphria will be able to enter the Canadian beverage sector to compete with Canopy.
<p>
It is obvious that the US will finally federally legalize Cannabis.  BEFORE this even happens Aphria now has key partnerships with leading US distributors.
<p>
Did they overpay?  Maybe, especailly during a pandemic; their balance sheet is garbage. This aquisition looks like they maybe even saving the company, but long term a great purchase.  The pandemic and the company's struggle maybe the only reason why they were able to aquire it.
<p>
The P/E ratio is 17 which isn't bad considering they are a growing company that will continue to.  Considering Canopy required billions to enter the US, this firms up our position as the number one company in the world in the Cannabis space.
