Good points you're making,Monty, but these short data are reported every 2 weeks and it,s hard to tell when the shorting took place and the subsequent covering. besides some of these shorts are from day trader who short in the morning and cover at night. In any case the fact that there is no interest in the stock today suggests that most of the volume/price rise yesterday was due to short covering.
