RE:A Need For Truth

RE:A Need For TruthOf course if the vote went the other way then four more years of Trump would be the correct result.

NAFTA is complicated and the Canadian and American economies are probably the most integrated in the world.  The full accounting of benefits can’t be just jobs, you would have to follow earnings, retained earnings and capital investments and dividends through to where they are taxed.  Cross-border ownership of “Canadian” enterprise by American-based multinationals (and other countries) is significant.

As for job losses the hollowing-out of the rust belts in both Canada and the United States was not the same jobs migrating ... the modernization through robotics and updated machinery made existing plants redundant and expensive, and when those plants went offshore to cheaper labour markets the numbers of jobs were greatly reduced in any event.  We took this on the nose in Canada too.  In Canada most Canadians are used to bickering over trade endlessly with the United States because of your system of interest-group lobbying there are always some politicians in Washington trying to screw us over.  Softwood lumber ... 15 years or so?  It’s ceaseless.

The reason most Canadians don’t like Trump is because he’s perceived as ignorant, rude, bullying, disrespful, crass, lacking in empathy, politeness and humour.  It doesn’t have to do with your domestic policy differences, or NAFTA or NATO because those are just about what we expect from somebody like him.  We just think he’s an idiot and bad for the United States and the global community.  Rex Tillerson and others with far better resumes than mine have had saltier words to describe him.  What do you think the Lincoln Project is?  A Democrat plot that magically got hundreds of prominent Republicans and patriotic Americans with long histories of public service to say Trump is not qualified to be President?  Unprecedented because he is unprecedented, in a bad for your country way.

Your 70 million is opposed by 75 million ... what’s your point?  You don’t accept election losses if the minority is a big number?  As for the taxes, red states, particularly the agricultural sector, are highly subsidized by blue states.  And politically red states are overrepresented by population in all of the House, Senate and Electoral College.

Yes, actually, apart from a lot of baseless complaining and so far, seemingly meritless lawsuits it does appear to be over.  But be my guest and send a big cheque to Trump, if not for this harebrained conspiracy chase, he has several dozen pending lawsuits that are suddenly going to have to be defended on his own ticket.

If a former President is convicted of sexual assault, election expense fraud, perjury, conspiracy, who knows what else might come to light, does he get a private prison? Exile to Russia?  A plastic cage in the middle of his Presidential library with him leaping about in an orange jumpsuit might help fill in the large gap in any meaningful books or writing produced by him.

The Trumpian tantrum is actually pretty amusing and representative of stifled belligerence.  Go nuts man, if it makes you feel better.  Won’t change anything.  I can hardly wait until I hear what you have to say about 47, President Harris.
