SHARC Energy Systems C.SHRC

Alternate Symbol(s):  INTWF

SHARC International Systems Inc. is engaged in energy recovery from the wastewater the Company send down the drain every day. Its energy's systems recycle thermal energy from wastewater, generating energy and economical systems for heating, cooling & hot water production for commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. Its products include SHARC Series and PIRANHA Series. The SHARC Series taps the potential of wastewater energy to reduce energy and water consumption, carbon emissions and energy costs at large, industrial scales. The SHARC utilizes the power of wastewater for both heating and cooling for the large capacity requirements of multi-family residential, commercial and energy districts. The PIRANHA Wastewater Heat Recovery & Cooling System is a specialized water-to-water heat pump that recovers energy directly from wastewater and uses this source energy to produce hot water. PIRANHA Series is typically used for potable domestic hot water (DHW) purposes.

I learned not to read their NRs too quickly.

Right on.

The "step in the right direction" is that somehow SHARC was a participant in drawing up a boilerplate contract form for all comers in the waste heat recovery arena.

The result is a useful and practical document, but it has nothing to do with any sales of any unit.

The County has set aside a budget for three pilot projects -- not for the purchase of any SHARC units, but only to fund the interface connections (metering &c) between "The Project" and the public utilities.

The contract template is pages and pages long and quite detailed,  "Acts of God" &c

That's useful -- but the Project Builder  who wishes to install a Unit (so far, wink wink, a party both "secret" and "potential" -- and how has that language worked out? Santa+Easter Bunny+Tooth Fairy+Jodie Enterpises, anyone? ) will be signing the contract.

Any "WTEU" (Wastewater Thermal Energy User) in the SHR sphere will have to sign the contract.  The Thirty Cent Villagers will hope that it is SHARC who is the scrawler.

But the document does serve as a pretty comprehensive dot the i's and cross the t's kind of contractual model to add to the sales kit for all those well-trained and productive "Representatives".

So no actual sales, only "potential" -- but maybe another plop down to encourage something sprouting in the field if not in the market.

The Villagers can only hope that the "fill in the blanks" part is awaiting to jump the SHARC and the "Secret Potential Project" contractor will "sign on the dotted line", before a competitor jumps the cue and everyone bails at the 20 cent range. (but, hey, there's good support at the 18-23 cent range -- check Level II)

The whole multi-page generic template for WTEUs, of which this is a preamble, is at

AGREEMENT FOR SALE AND USE OF THERMAL ENERGY FROM KING COUNTY WASTEWATER

This Agreement (“Agreement”) is made as of the _______ day of _________, 20__ between ____________________, a (describe type of legal entity) hereinafter referred to as “Wastewater Thermal Energy User,” and King County, a Home-Rule charter county and political subdivision of the State of Washington hereinafter referred to as  the “County.”  Wastewater Thermal Energy User and the County may be collectively referred to as the “Parties” and individually as a “Party.”

RECITALS:

WHEREAS, the County is the successor to Metro, a regional wastewater services provider whose regional wastewater service area includes King County and parts of Snohomish and Pierce counties; and

WHEREAS, the County owns and operates 390-plus miles of pipelines, trunks and interceptors that convey wastewater throughout the County’s regional wastewater service area; and

WHEREAS, wastewater contains thermal, or heat, energy. Various technologies have been, and are being, developed that allow for the potential transfer of heat energy to or from wastewater pipelines to provide heating and cooling to individual buildings, neighborhoods, and/or communities; and

WHEREAS, the transfer of heat energy to or from wastewater reduces energy dependence on fossil fuels and is consistent with the County’s mission of recovering resources from wastewater; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 35.58 the County may contract with private and public parties, and set the rates and charges, for the use of the County’s regional wastewater facilities; and

WHEREAS, Wastewater Thermal Energy User plans to construct a (describe type of structure or neighborhood or district energy system) at (describe address and/or location(s)), hereinafter referred to as the “Project;” and

          WHEREAS, Wastewater Thermal Energy User proposes to construct (describe proposal: e.g. a closed loop parallel or similar connection to the County’s) (name County facility where connection will be made) ____________for the purpose of transferring heat energy to or from the County’s wastewater;

NOW THEREFORE, the Parties agree as follows:
