They can also see where you are from your IP address. Eventually they can identify who you actually are. If they have enough interest in you then the fun can really begin targeting you. I won't go into detail about all that this entails right now. I'll save that for the courts when they are held accountable. What I will say is that it is not beyond them to hack your computer and watch in real time what investing choices you are making or even just thinking of making.
Just a couple of comments on this post:
It's always a great idea to remove persistent cookies from your devices. There is way too much info passing between your endpoints and folks who track and sell your data.
I have an Internet Service Provider (ISP) and they provide a router between my personal network and the Internet. You can't see that router IP address from the web, only the company IP address of the ISP. To get any further information you need to serve the ISP with a court order. However, even if the IP address of my ISP router was known (and it changes every so often), I have a VPN internal to my network that hides information before it gets to the ISP router. The IP address that shows to the router is the VPN IP, not my network IP's. My traffic tunnels into the VPN at my endpoint devices and is encapsulated/obscured by the time it hits the router. I assume (you should too) that the government has a back door and can observe my traffic, but not folks related to a stock bulletin board.
Everyone on this board is expected to do their own due diligence before investing their hard-earned money into a stock. I really haven't come across anyone who plows in without research. The TUD TUO AMK boards have been pretty good.
