Duties

Duties
The Scotia analyst who covers forest products, Benoit Laprade. published a brief note on antidumping and countervailing duties on deposit with the US Dep't. of Commerce. As of Q3, total duty deposits as a %age of current equity value were 54% for Resolute, 24% CFP, 13% IFP and 32% for WEF. For Western, its total deposits of US$86 million versus a market cap of Cdn$356 million.

It was noted that the last time a duty dispute was settled, 2006, 80% of accumulated duties were refunded to the Cdn. payors and 10% remitted to the petitioners, the US coalition.

Being a relatively recent refugee from Alberta, I'll leave it to you rainforest types to assess the likelihood of a similar partial refund under a sane US administration.
