Since the temperature of the plasma torch is higher than with fuel oil, I was wondering if the quality of the iron pellets that will come out of the furnace will also be of better quality or even more concentrated?

Maybe I'm wrong?

Dear Moi,

Hi again. Thanks for posting.

From what we have learned so far through modeling we have performed for our customers, the pellets are heated using very large volumes of recirculating air that is either heated by a conventional burner or the plasma torch. This means that the pellets themselves will see the same large amount of hot air whether it is heated by plasma or a conventional burner. The pellets will not see the plasma or burner “flame” directly.

Having said that we do know that one difference is that the “flame” will be drier with plasma torches compared to burners, especially when comparing to a natural gas burner. What will be the ultimate impact on the pellets? We do not know at this time, and is something we are interested in finding out. We think it could be a “hidden” benefit that we would want to tap into, and price into a final product offering.

Hope that Helps,

Peter
