RE:RE:Pyr CEO response to question regarding plasma vs fuel burnerThe induration process of making iron ore pellets was not developed yesterday or last year or last decennium. It was developed in the middle of the last century. This is really big business and no effort has been spared to make pellets faster and cheaper. The limiting factor in heating the green ( moist) pellets is the need to avoid heating them too fast. When that happens the moisture can boil and explode the pellets, which is a disaster and produces unsaleable garbage which has to be recycled. Many factors have to be balanced in order to produce a bed ( thickness can be varied ) of pellets that is uniform and ready for the final heating at higher temperature to creat the microscopic moleculair bonds which hold the pellets together during transport and reduce dust creation. If there was a faster to make finished pellets it would already be in use, of that I am absolutely sure. If you really wan to do your DD and underdtand what is going on inside these production lines take the time to read the document posted already several times here most recently by bleached today at 01:48 PM. I will not repost it . Do your own effort and go back and find it.
