RE:RE:Tesla & NIO Valued for Technology, What About BlackBerry? Hi Yasch22,
Appreciate your clarifications, however here are my thoughts
BlackBerry a few years ago announced the opening of the Autonomous Vehicle Innovation Centre, which is working on Advancing technology innovation for connected and autonomous vehicles. There was also a live demo on the streets showcasing the work being done. And there have been multiple instances where BlackBerry OS was signed up for different functions of ADAS as you mentioned above, however those were completed building blocks that were being used in production. BlackBerry started working on autonomous technology a few years ago and may already be testing those with some of the car manufacturers and Tier 1s, we will know once an announcement is made that a car with BlackBerry Autonomous Software will be available for purchase….. .
I think it has the entire package, it is already working with manufacturers and we will get to see more details soon…. There are multiple universities also working with BlackBerry on autonomous software and test tracks are already built and ready for action to begin.
Anchored by BlackBerry QNX, Ottawa’s CAV cluster includes more than 100 companies, post-secondary institutions and organizations that are contributing intelligence and technologies to CAVs of the future.
The region is also home to the Ottawa L5, the first integrated CAV and V2X living lab of its kind in North America (some news could be out from here next week)

I quote from a press release:
“As part of this new investment, BlackBerry QNX will be making even greater inroads into driving technologies. “BlackBerry QNX will also develop and use concept cars as labs for technology and software development,” the company said today. That doesn’t mean we can expect a BlackBerry car to reach dealerships, but it will expand the company’s footprint and could see it compete with Waymo, Cruise, Apple, and others on making autonomous vehicle prototypes. Back in early 2018, QNX announced it was working with China’s Baidu on a self-driving test fleet.”
