Do I have this right? On June 29, 2020 NXO joins Qualcomm Exclusive Membership Group.
(They were obviously in discussions with them well before that date)
On July 10, 2020 NXO joins NVIDIA Parther Network
(They were obviously in discussions with them well before that date...possibly on an introduction from QCOM)
...which went something like this
"We're definitely interested but if we could have that tech siliconized we would move fast. Why don't you go see NVIDIA and get some help with that first".
NXO does...and NVIDIA jumps all over it.
NVIDA sends them to ARM for 'siliconizing'.
Work progresses...and then the Upper Management of NVIDIA realizes that the NXO tech is HUGE!
They decide to buy ARM.
Discussions begin with Softbank.
But Softbank (the owner of ARM), looks under the hood and twigs to the NXO work being done.
They proceed to do the deal but the announced deal isn't for the whole ball of wax.
In spite of (from the NR)...From the NVIDIA NR of September 13, 2020...
"Commitment to Arm and the UK
As part of NVIDIA, Arm will continue to operate its open-licensing model while maintaining the global customer neutrality that has been foundational to its success, with 180 billion chips shipped to-date by its licensees. Arm partners will also benefit from both companies’ offerings, including NVIDIA’s numerous innovations."
An importnat 'exclusion' from the deal is (from the NR)..."The transaction does not include Arm’s IoT Services Group."
Discussions continue and they agree on a 'reduced' price. https://nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/nvidia-to-acquire-arm-for-40-billion-creating-worlds-premier-computing-company-for-the-age-of-ai
And why did SBG hold back the IoT Services Group?
I believe they want to concentrate on the mega-market to come
The coming market for IoT chips themselves is measured in Trillions.
From the Sept. 13 2020 NVIDIA NR...
" SoftBank will remain committed to Arm’s long-term success through its ownership stake in NVIDIA, expected to be under 10 percent.
and
“AI is the most powerful technology force of our time and has launched a new wave of computing,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “In the years ahead, trillions of computers running AI will create a new internet-of-things that is thousands of times larger than today’s internet-of-people."
And NXO's ALIIS will be integrated into this growth.
'Nuff said.
