Bit of a ventMark's point is a good one. In a sense, this project HAS been flapping in the wind for a long time, and no one noticed. It is true that there's been no guarantee of access to the site for all this time. It's just that we've all, including ATAC, been under the supposition that YK is mining friendly and of course would back a dirt road access to a new location when the project was ready. Well it's been ready for several years now (or at least 2-3 since the Tiger area was proved up to feasible.)
It's not like ATAC hasn't been concerned about it. Even though they have been trying to go about the biz of exploration and cap raising and all the rest of it for years they have AT THE SAME TIME always gone to conferences and meetings with the YK gov and First Nation over and over just to get the rules of the game squared away so they could actually follow the rules to the necessary outcome of a road.
That's all they've asked for: realistic, clear rules--even if they meant ensuring x number of jobs for whomever and whatever other pork was required. They would happily comply.
And yet these absolute jokers in the YK gov and FN have led ATAC and investors down a merry path -- YEARS have gone by and the slimey jokers / prevaricators have changed the rules and kicked the can and made ATAC wait and wait and wait and listen to more BS and then wait some more to finally get a what?? A no? Are you kidding me?
How is it that in the course of years the YK gov hasn't come up with a realistic set of stipulations that ATAC needs to follow in order to get the greenlight. Now we've heard (have we?) some other slimey joker from the gov saying, 'well that's not a complete no if they do somethning or other.' But what's the 'something or other'?? That's been the point the whole time. They've never been clear, specific, up front, honest, professional about what is required and now ATAC and investors are up Yukon creek without a paddle.
ATAC has been a good corporate citizen and have proved up TIger to the point where it is feasible and followed everything asked. Did they mislead us by saying the TOTE road deal was done in early 2018? I don't think so. Everyone thought that was an agreement to be followed by a clear plan to the tote road, but that plan never came. The land use plan thingy was something new and then that became vague and now here we are after 2.5 years. Nowhere. Seriously? That's no ATAC's fault. If they were in danger of getting a no, why weren't they told earlier that it was heading that way unless they did something else? No such information was given so ATAC and we, in effect, were allowd to proceed straight over the cliff even tho the YK gov apparently knew very well that this could be the outcome and apparently the First Nation were actively asking for it. Amazing!
Thanks YK gov!
I've followed this concern for years as its gone down and down and down with all its potential--bc of the suspicion that for all the potential, it's an uncertain future bc there are no solid logistics for the extraction signed off by the gov. So now, until something is signed and secured by the gov for a road, this is dead money/dead situation/an utter gamble at any price above a new low.
I think the YK gov has been despicable;; they're the ones who are supposed to be in charge and lead and work with canadian exploration and they've guided them to the precipice. Bunch of spineless incompetents. What does First Nation have on them.
