1st Batch of Carbon Coated Nano Silicon Powders - exciting!!HPQ-Silicon Resources Says Research Partners Delivers First Batch of Carbon Coated Nano Silicon Powders for Evaluation 19 Nov 202011:27 ET
11:27 AM EST, 11/19/2020 (MT Newswires) -- HPQ-Silicon Resources (HPQ.V) edged higher after the company on Thursday said research partner Apollon Solar produced an initial batch of first batch of carbon coated nano silicon powders as it evaluates carbon encapsulating processes for silicon nanopowders.
The company said Apollon delivered the coated powders to France's Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique for evaluation of their battery potential.
"HPQ is committed to staying at the forefront of Silicon for batteries R&D . This latest effort is part of our plan to produce products for renewable energy storage participants and electric vehicle manufacturers who continue to search for cost effective ways of increasing the Silicon contained in their batteries," HPQ chief executive Bernard Tourillon said in a release.
Ongoing R&D indicates that the two most promising avenues for resolving these issues are:
Nanosizing Silicon powders to eliminate cracking during the lithiation phase.
Encapsulating the Silicon in order to improve its swelling and cracking characteristics.
HPQ is in the forefront of addressing these issues with the PUREVAP™ NSiR process and our ongoing work on porous silicon nanopowders and carbon coating nano silicon.
