RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Another blowDon't be fooled, this move by HBO is a test. Pirating is unavoidable, so this will provide a comparison from what direct to streaming vs. the cinema model will yield.
Music successfully converted from the brick and mortar model to streaming despite the ability to pirate an artist's digital release on day 1. If the HBO 2021 streaming results are positive, don't count on a change back to the old model.

As soon as a movie hit digital release, its hacked. I believe we should see 20$ sp in 2 years or less here GLTA quote=flamingogold]No one turns on the radio, they turn on the commercial. I have multiple FM presets in my car, and during my prime time drive I will catch 75% of them in commercial break and the other 25% I rarely catch songs back to back. So, I never get to hear a full song without being forced to hear a commercial. So, years ago I switched to streaming SiriusXM, Spotify or my iTunes library.
Sure, radio never disappeared and neither will cinema. But, it's best days are in the past. Of course, the desire to go out and catch a big budget film on the big screen will be there. But, now with same day releases hitting the home, the urge will be minimized when for $30 you get it now. And, we leave in a now society.
The trend here is not your friend.

I think this industry will stay and continu to thrive. The lower it gets, the better the opportunity here imo. Many today have crazy home theatre and thats okay but think about the people who cant afford those system, theres a lot of them. Glad to read your input on this and looking for the day you feel great about holding this, if ever this day will come ;)
Starsearcher80 wrote: Absolutely this is not good news. The question now, is this the beginning of an avalanche of others doing the same, leaving the theatres sucking wind for another year. The bigger question is whether the movie theatres have "had their day". If people can have friends over, beer/wine, good food instead of soggy over-priced popcorn, and still see a first run movie via streaming, is this the beginning of the end for theatres? Don't know the answer to that question, but with this move today, it does put CGX into the "avoid" category for me until there is much greater clarity.
Best to all who continue with this stock.
