*Building a project that’s has certain parameters out-of-spec does not make the whole project unsafe and unusable. ( My outdoor deck that I built is out of spec but I sure got a lot of use this summer and I can tell you everyone on the deck was safe. Outdoor decks have nothing to do with a pipelines but I thought it might add some humor.)
*Looking at the data in the ENB report, there is no degradation in the material walls associated with the bends. Why would the regulatory board designated to oversee the safety of the pipeline deem the pipeline unsafe when measurement indicates no material weakness or deformation associated with the bends? Narda,,,, zippo….zilch….. nothing. Wait ….. I almost forgot . It wasn’t the safety board that did it …. it was ___.
*The data suggested that the welds and the materials could withstand not only the standard pressure flow but 2.4x the standard flow. Sounds like the pipeline is overdesigned with safety in mind. (Its like building my deck with steel joists instead of wood).
*The report is around 2014....... There must be a newer one that comfirms the same results. The report mentions in 2018 another report is to be done.
I hope that all leaders would follow the advice of their own science and engineering community instead of following a whim.
