To Consolidate or Not to Consolidate

To Consolidate or Not to ConsolidateThe Company would have you vote in favour of stock consolidation because 1. They believe it makes it easier to market the company to a wider range of investors (no peny stock stigma or institutional investor restrictions), and 2. It reduces their costs of communicating with shareholders, etc.  As an investor you have to balance the argument of a potentially wider audience of shareholders who might be interested in the Company, the margin pick up for a $3.00+ stock (for those who use margin) with the known fact that shares often suffer a period of decline (for absolutely no fundamental reason) after consolidation.  Consolidations need to be done with great care in conjunction with positive news and price support for the shares.  If you give the Board/management the approval to consolidate – will they exercise that care and good judgement and do so in a well planned way minimizing price pressure on the shares?
