White OilAs I posted earlier, 8 million EVs per year will consume the same quantity as current lithium production. 8 million Evs represents 11 percent of current auto sales worlwide. In a report for the Ontario electrical operator, wind power had a load factor of 20 percent. Solar was even worse at 15 percent. The only reason wind and solar are viable today is that they are backstopped by other sources like Natgas. Britain recently had to cut back use due to calm winds. I believe they have 33 percent of power generated by wind. My point is renewables will need a huge amount of battery back up once other fuels are eliminated. This will require huge amounts of lithium and cobalt. I'll work on this in a later post. Bottomline, raw materials will limit renewable and EV growth.
