Graphene Enhances LiFePO4 PerformanceAre there grid storage applications utilizing graphene from NanoXplore with Hydro-Quebec in the works?
Hydro-Quebec announced it has launched EVLO Energy Storage Inc., a subsidiary to
design, sell and operate safe, efficient and sustainable energy storage systems. These
systems would be targeting the grid storage and industrial markets and employ
LiFePO4 batteries. Research Shows Graphene Enhances LiFePO4 Performance Researchers at INRSEMT have shown that by adding 1% graphene to the LiFePO4 cathode
chemistry the performance of the battery can be “significantly” increased. In the
study two graphene types were used, G V4 and G V20, both supplied by
NanoXplore. Widens NanoXplores Graphene for Use in Batteries While NanoXplore has mentioned the graphene polymer paste it has been developing to use in the Si anode application of Li-ion batteries, the above study shows the improvement that
graphene can offer in the cathode of LiFePO4 batteries. This potentially increases
the demand for graphene even further for the batteries of the future. Here is the study utilizing graphene from NanoXplore:
