OHIO - Blessing In DisguiseAs you know, in Ohio, as a result of our agreement with PENN National, we were awarded a second skin in that state at one of their casinos.
The Bill SB 111 in its current form only allowed for one skin per casino in Ohio. This would have effectively negated our chances of a launch in Ohio, until such time they 'woke up' and changed legislation to allow for more than one skin and permit real competition and increased revenue, as can be seen by inspecting the data from other states that allow for multi-skin models.
So, from a pure Score perspective, this is fantastic news. If it were to have passed as is, even if they added a second skin somewhere down the line, we would have the most difficult time in surmounting such an advantage presented to the other sportsbooks.
Although the Bill's death for this year had little to do with its contents, all we can hope for in the interim is that Ohio legislators come to their senses and allow for a truly competitive and richly diverse market that offers more than one skin per casino.
