She claims that she had no knowing part in the scheme. The SEC said that Ms. Sidoti helped hidden insiders unload millions of shares amidst a paid promotion, with the scheme including a group of Canadians, among them Vancouver's Steve Bajic. Ms. Sidoti's request comes in response to a case the regulator filed against her two months ago in federal court in California. The SEC claimed that she facilitated the scheme through legal work. In particular, the regulator said that she wrote opinion letters that lifted the restrictions on millions of shares held by hidden insiders, making the stock readily tradable. Those insiders sold that stock in the subsequent pump-and-dump, according to the SEC. For her part, Ms. Sidoti denies any wrongdoing and calls the SEC's allegations an "unsubstantiated tale." In a motion filed on Thursday, Dec. 17, she says that the case stems from her work on behalf of eight private entities that held shares in Blake. The SEC claimed that she should have realized the entities were nominees for an underlying control group, a red flag for improper activity, but did nothing to identify the people behind those entities.
