Jim Balsillie Story

Jim Balsillie StoryI read the book about RIM and their rise and downfall as a smartphone maker. There was a story they told  that in the early days of the device, before anyone really had it or even knew it existed, Jim Balsillie was at a big tech or commuications gala. He was seated way in the back as no one knew or cared who he was at the time. He noticed that at one table were the Senior VP's of AT&T and Verizon, maybe some other big executives too I can't remember.

Anyway what Jim did was hand write his name on one of the place cards, similar to the style they had, and put it at that table and removed someone elses card. He then proceeded to spend the night talking and showing these executives the BlackBerry he had on him and the rest is history.

That my friends is someone you want running a start up company you have your hard earned money in. Call me crazy but Terry, Bruce, Antoine and Jim would be a great Board.
