Some Perspective on the EV and H2 Economy

Some Perspective on the EV and H2 EconomyCanada has about 79,000 MW of generating capacity and uses about 1,100,000 bbls per day of oil for transportion.
Accounting for efficiencies and losses, if we to convert all ICE's to EV's we would need  about 51,000 MW hours to provide an equivalent mount of energy. Ahaha you sya, we can serve it on offpeak hours. To proof this, you need to look at each province and projected EV load. ommon sense says if we have fast charging batteries in future, people wil want to charge at work, and throughout the day. If all vehiles were EV then some ould be on hihgways, etc. Also, I looked at one year of Ab data. IN 2016, in January they ran near capacity for ten consecutive days. I ONtario, the top 25 days of demand were in the \june to \september period. So basically we would need to add a minimum of 25,000 MW which would  need battery backup for days, not hours.

As I have said, H2 is worse. To replace the oil you would need 105,000 MW!! Not surprising since the energy ouput is less than the energy in. If you deleted 3.5 Bcfpd of natgas for residential and commercial heating you add another 41,250 MW. IN this case you over 105 MW of battery backup and you have to replace every, and I every gas pipe line in the country.  Youre looking at hndreds ofmillions of dollars not to mention electricity costs four or five times what we see now.

Simply, there are better ways to fight CO2 and I hope to share tehm shortly as i conduct my research and verify assumptions.
Meery Christmas to all! Even the grinches.
