PerspectiveThe end of the of Mineral Mt NR of Dec. 2nd: MMV following the collaboration of Jeff, Curt and Kevin now has a much clearer understanding of the Standby project geology and has advanced beyond the exploratory stage to a gold reserves definition stage.
Over the next three (3) weeks, MMV will be populating its website with current updates so it is recommended that shareholders check the site often. (End)
It seems like a pretty good assumption that agreements of secrecy during the funding negotiation process continue. I'm sure MMV would have posted something within three weeks if they could have.
Maybe reading this post below from Dec. 17th will put things in perspective.
Frustration and not fundamentals driving stock price
Frustration and not fundamentals driving the stock price.
Up until 2002, Homestake produced 41 million ounces of Gold. When you add what has been produced (41 moz) with the inferred resource estimates of the mines that were closed during this period, we get a total of 62.5 million ounces. That's a large deposit and to think there is no more left to be found would run completely counter to the science, geology and modeling of the region and these types of deposits.
These kind of deposits are not random and occur in patterns and clusters to form large mineral systems. The large land packaged amassed by MMV covers highly prospective parts of this system, and in due time, we may even hear more about MMV stealthily accumulating additional land parcels to complete the picture. We have four really good large targets, which may produce tens of millions of ounces, and myriad of other targets that may be hundreds of thousands of ounces in range.
There are fairly accurate theoretical models/curves that have been developed to test the exploration maturity of some of the biggest orogenic Gold regions (think Abitibi in Northern Ontario/Quebec, etc...), using the Geology and discovered deposits of the region as its basis, to find out how much gold is left there to discover. What is amazing about the Black Hills of South Dakota compared to some of these other large orogenic Gold regions, is that most of the area is way under-explored, and vast amounts of Gold are still left to be discovered. In this regard, MMV is in a select and cream-of-the-crop group of explorers looking for 20+moz monsters – we just need to see a major or two finance the next drill program to get the ball rolling. When the PP is announced with sufficient funds to do some serious drilling, the price of the stock will begin to reflect the big potential of the play (as it has in the past).
In the last few months, since the last drill program, it is my belief that MMV has compiled/produced a lot of good information on the prospectivity of its property to potential investors/majors. MMV has brought in a new head Geo to lead the exploration efforts and he's been helping tweak the models/data. In addition, given the scale potential here, there are likely other world-class consulting firms involved in the process to produce what I believe will be a road-map to a major world-class discovery that will garner a lot more well-deserved attention.
I wish MMV hired someone to do a better job at marketing the potential of this region and the company's intentions to keep us shareholders and the market better informed.
Yes it is taking a long time, and frankly it has been an opportunity-cost for most of us, since other junior plays have done better in the last few months. But, depending on your investment time-horizon, the out-sized gain potential may be worth the wait. MMV is on a discount (some of it due to frustrated investors and perhaps due to tax-loss selling), and it may prove to be a great buying opportunity. I would personally find it rewarding to be invested in a play that (hopefully) makes the headlines across the mining/exploration sector, as opposed to just riding the Gold wave that lifts all boats.
