Let us be honest...

Let us be honest...

I bought Vermilion Energy in January after a lot of research. The dividend was quite high; management PROMISED that the dividend would not be cut. I suspected they were lying - yet even if the dividend was cut in half, that cash dividend fit my portfolio.

Within a few months - the dividend was cut, then dropped the following month to zero! I lost almost 75% of this investment. My decision - I blame nobody except myself for believing people who should not have been trusted.

Having said that, I did not sell any shares. The company format is solid; it may take me a few years to get my money back. And since this investment is less than 5% of my portfolio, I never lost any sleep.

Good luck to all in 2021.
