While Flag found some encouraging evidence of gold and copper through its drilling activity, Inventus believes the mineral trove could be much richer than was hinted at in those earlier samples.
“The past exploration was conducted in a somewhat haphazard way, and not a lot of planning or geologic work went into the drill holes and targets,” said Spears. “But we’ve got all the data from that drilling, and we’ve used the best modern techniques at our disposal to analyze that information.”
Spears said his company also carried out surface prospecting and geological mapping over the summer, neither of which had been done before.
“The previous drilling showed there was high-grade mineralization, but above and beyond that, we’ve analyzed the setting and the geology and we think there is a very valid exploration target there,” said Spears.
“I’ve been working in the exploration mining industry for a while now, and I would say this is among the most promising targets I’ve ever seen.”
