Atlas has NGC contract to 2024 I believe and Titan is plant 100% methanex owned hence ability to make unilateral decision on this plant.
I understand methanex produced only about 500,000metric tons last year despite Atlas having capacity of 1,800,000 on its own (with Titan being 875,000 capacity) Strikes me this is no-brainer for Methanex to close Titan.
Wish I knew contract price for Atlas but in the end it makes little difference because Methanex has literally no need for Titan Plant to operate..
I understand it takes 157MMscf/day to produce 5000metric tons. I'm just throwing that factoid in but my conclusion is that current negotiations NGC/TXP have no real bearing on the Methanex situation. Our hope is that a lot of TXP gas will be flowing by 2022 but Methanex only has a problem in say late 2023 when it is looking to seal any deal at all.
