Canadian politics...I hate political posts on TLT's board, but have decided that I will 'cave in' for just one post. With everybody focussed so much on events south of the border, I thought it might be appropriate to remind folks that we have our own issues right here in the good'ol Canada, with the NDP currently in control of the minority Libs on any major issue that might threaten to bring down the govt. As we all know, since the start of COVID the Libs have borrowed from our future generations (I thank the Lord that I am old, but pity my grandkids who will have to pay) to throw money at all sorts of things that they think will buy them future votes, starting with the ill-conceived CERB scheme that paid 15 year olds living with their parents $2000/mo, even though they might have earned only $500/mo in 2019...the biggest 'pay it forward' scheme in Cdn history IMO. The carnage on Canada's finances has continued with many other ill-conceived programs forced through by the NDP's who carry the swing vote on important stuff. We have not heard recently from the new Minister of Finance Friedland since she and her minions are busy preparing a budget that will display the true colors of the ruling Libs...basically a bunch of kids with a book of matches. Dangerous stuff, and will take us quickly down the road to socialism, more quickly than we ever imagined. This will no doubt be popular with todays kids, our new majority of voters, as well as Justin's new immigrants who are already living on the 'dime' of the Canadian taxpayer. I recently saw a message from Pierre Poilievre that I think expresses what a lot of us older guys can relate to:
"Pop culture belittles it"
"Government punishes it"
"But work brings dollars AND dignity"
"Paycheques AND purpose"
"A good living AND a good life"
Go ahead you little Liberal clowns, start swinging at me, I can take it. But at least stop all these political posts from events south of the border that we have no control of whatsoever!
