Plant based plastics still require tons of plants like corn, which my family grows by the hundreds of acres. We own tractors that cost half as much as your house. Corn takes tons of fertilizyers to grow, there are still fuel costs to plant, grow and harvest the corn. There is still run off from fertilizyers that sometimes get into the water tables. It still takes petroleum and resources to make plant based plastics that aren't in the actual product, but what the heck do you think the machines that make the products run on? Solar? Wind? No, electricity, petro. So, we need to as a society eventually move away from relying so much on plastics. Doesn't mean I don't want to grab a coke at the store, we just need to think about other solutions as well.
I have a small fortune in Good natured. I believe in this company, Paul, and that this great company helping reduce waste, but doens't mean we can't reduce along a the way.
