Here's why.

You can buy 12.5% of an asset for a certain price, you pay more for less.  But if you want the whole enchilado, the total price goes down.  Glacier is probably worth about $400-$500M in this market.  12.5% is worth $100M. 

It's not a straight line valuation where 12.5%*8= $800M, probably why WildCattter works out in the field and failed undergrad Finance.
