Melanie Mackay - P.Geo

Mrs. Melanie Mackay is a Canadian-born professional geoscientist with first nations heritage, specializing in all aspects of coal and metal projects in both junior and senior mining companies. Mrs. Mackay's expertise is in evaluation, modelling, feasibility and forecasting mine-specific projects. She obtained her BSF forest resources management degree in 1998 from the University of British Columbia (UBC), followed by a BSc (honours) geological sciences degree, also from UBC. Her affiliations include the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia, the ISO Canadian advisory committee and the Canadian Carbonization Research Association.

Mrs. Mackay is the president of the Western Canadian Coal Society, which is a non-profit organization directed by volunteers from mining, exploration and research organizations that provides a technical networking group for professionals. She was appointed by the Minister of Transportation, with approval from the governor in council, as a member of the board of directors of Ridley Terminals Inc. Ridley Terminals is a world-class terminal for bulk handling in Prince Rupert, B.C., supplying metallurgical and thermal coal and petroleum coke to the Asian markets from British Columbia and Alberta.

Joanna Cameron

Ms. Cameron is Associate Counsel at DuMoulin Black LLP and has 24 years’ experience as a lawyer, providing corporate, governance, securities and corporate advice to clients. Prior to joining DuMoulin Black, she was the Vice President Legal, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of NexGen Energy Ltd., a development stage uranium company listed on the TSX and NYSE American. Prior to that role, Ms. Cameron was also previously a law partner at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP, Lawson Lundell LLP and BHT LLP (now Norton Rose LLP). Ms. Cameron obtained her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Saskatchewan, a Bachelor of Arts, Honors  from Queen’s University and is now an EMBA candidate (2022) at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.  Ms. Cameron was named in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory (Mining) for 2015 and 2016, achieved the Martindale Hubbell, BV Distinguished rating, named in Best Lawyers in Canada (2013 to 2016, 2020 and 2021) for Mining, Corporate and Securities law and was a finalist in the Lexpert “Top 40 Under 40” (2009). Thea Koshman - LLB

Ms. Thea Koshman obtained an LL.B. from York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School in 1987 and is an experienced securities, corporate finance and business lawyer and is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia. Ms. Koshman has held the position of corporate secretary and/or corporate counsel for various public companies in a number of industries. In her capacities as a lawyer and as corporate counsel she has provided securities, corporate governance and general business law advice and guidance to junior mining issuers and other public companies for 27 years.

Julie Lemieux

Ms. Lemieux has over 25 years of experience in team leadership, project management, business development and continuous improvement strategy implementation. A graduate from Laval University, Julie holds a Bachelor of Science in Geomatics.
 

Most recently, Ms. Lemieux has worked as a senior consultant for Planifika Inc., a consulting firm specializing in helping companies develop an asset management mindset based on the Institute of Asset Management principles and ISO 55001 standards. She is also the vice-president of North American operations at EXMceuticals Inc., an emerging player in the international medical cannabis industry in Europe. Previously Ms. Lemieux managed strategic projects, including working with the Metis Nation of Alberta and its regions through Indigenous consultation, support, and advice on environmental services aligned with community concerns and values.

Dale Ginn 

TECHNICAL COMMITTEE CHAIR

Mr. Ginn is an experienced mining executive and geologist of nearly 30 years. He is the founder of a number of exploration and mining companies and has led and participated in numerous gold and base metal discoveries, many of which are in production today. Mr. Ginn has led or was part of the discovery teams for the Gladiator, Hinge, 007, 777, Trout Lake, and Tartan Lake deposits and received the Quebec Discovery of the Year Golden Hammer award in 2018 for the Gladiator deposit. His experience has included both senior and junior companies such as Goldcorp, Harmony Gold, Hudbay, Westmin, San Gold, Bonterra, Gatling Exploration and others. While specializing in complex, structurally controlled gold deposits, he also has extensive mine-operations, development and startup experience.

Joanne Freeze - P.Geo

TECHNICAL COMMITTEE MEMBER

Ms. Joanne Freeze is a Canadian-born professional geologist with over 35 years in the mining exploration business. Serving the past 20 years as an executive in the junior resource business she has spearheaded significant mining project acquisitions and led projects through discovery as well as engineering and economic evaluation stages. To date, she has been instrumental in the raising of over $100-million in equity financings for mineral exploration. In addition, she has extensive experience in both project evaluations and in managing exploration and development programs such that she has been hands-on with all exploration aspects from field operations, budget control, human resources, health and safety, community outreach, and collaboration with governments on all levels.

Ms. Freeze is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia, Canada. She holds a BA in geography from the University of Western Ontario and a BSc in geology from the University of British Columbia. Since 2011, Ms. Freeze has been on the advisory board of the Institute of International Development (ISID) at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Ms. Freeze also previously served as a trustee to the Society of Economic Geologists.
