QuantumScape says its battery will allow Volkswagen’s E-Golf to travel 750 km compared to the present 300 km on a single charge, making it comparable to ranges achieved by conventional gas-powered vehicles.
Volkswagen believes QuantumScape’s battery will be faster-charging and much lighter than current lithium-ion batteries used by Tesla.
How well do you actually know QuantumScape's new approach...? All we know is that it uses a solid state ceramic electrolyte (that also serves as the separator). Based on patent filings, some experts suspect it is an oxide known as LLZO. LLZO in its "bare" form can underperform electrochemically, & performance can be enhanced by chemical doping...one doping element that has shown promise/success in the lab is Silicon. For all we know, QuantumScape's new approach could include Si...
Sorry, broke my promise....this guy is a pest. A final good night to all Longs : ).
