Most NATO will be operating F35 and you need the software from F35 to communicate to each other. NORAD also has F35 and F22 as future fleet. Grippen wont be able to use Lockheed designed software. Each F35 communicates with each other live and is connected to mission plan live so all pilots know which targets are left and which are destroyed and where the threats are. Also days of aerial dog fight are gone. After 1st desert storm most air to air kills in air have been beyond visual range. From an aviation website with some declassified information through USA public access information it was quoted that best Russian radars system can detect F35 from 116 miles away but the air to ground missiles carried by F35 can be released 186 miles away from target. Do the math. Game over. F35 had growing pains but not as bad. Boeing are the sore lossers and they are the ones trying to sell F18 and F15 by dirty publicity. Grippen is target practice for Migs.
