Then the acquirer would still realize a benefit of 10M shares X $13/share or $130M. Assuming your number on $2/share is correct. There are obviously plenty of shares held by weak holders for them to start acquiring.
I think we are all on the same page though....and calling Palmer a penny pincher is funny....but you would do the same thing :)
Even if you were in Palmers shoes and WANTED to buy WRN really badly...you CANNOT offer what WRN believes is a "fair" value. We shouldn't be blaming Newmont....we should be blaming WRN for not doing what is necessary to drive market cap up over the prior 5 years to have us in better position to negotiate!!!
