You personally may be willing to make those kind of gambles, and I'm sure many other investors would be as well. But when the company has just about zero liquidity available to sustain any negative events, it doesn't seem to me like the time to be taking risks.
I certainly don't disagree with you regarding Caribou - I think restarting it was a mistake, for the same reasons you're describing. But with regards to the hedging in general, I find it difficult to understand your vehement opposition :/
