RE:RE:News

RE:RE:NewsJust to play devil's advocate here.... a few counterpoints to this news are/is/would be:
  • The stock is mostly held by retail if not all of it - at least officially.... retail may not see or have the buying power to buy this up properly and re-rate it to where it needs to be... need institutional power at a much higher level to bring shareprice up like a magnet
  • We may go up slower now until we see news on the pilot plant - how it's financed, by who, a partner or not
  • For real gains - we need more coverage like the Couloir report which seemed to move things for a month - analyst reports, enthusiasm, an official news release with a partner or buyout or offtake.
Still need to know the details of the scoping study. A lot of questions left open-ended in the news release, but likely answered by the pilot plant - which we still need concrete details on.

Between a proper $$ backing and a successful pilot plant, followed up with some kind of big name coming on board... I can see CYP around $5-6 in summer. I'd like to be proven wrong and see it come by May... at least $3-$4 by April-ish with positive news.

  • The capex/opex is likely to be lower... how much lower we don't know. It doesn't say how much sulphur could be reduced so no way to estimate. So we don't know if acid plant is still in the cards.
  • Economics are going up - which means NPV likely is going up.
  • IRR is likely to go up too - how much depends on further details.
  • Environment stuff will be easier. Would you rather give a permit for a project with 50% acid or 5% acid... or 0% acid?
  • Production could be quicker if all those things are in line and less things to construct.

This is called streamlining. Maybe they can re-use the goods from the flow process and recirculate it to recover even more lithium?

This reads to me that the pilot is going for chloride. There must be a strong understanding of how it all works to take this by the horns.

Vancouver, BC - Cypress Development Corp. (TSX-V:CYP) (OTCQB: CYDVF) (Frankfurt: C1Z1) (“Cypress” or “the Company”) reports additional valuable advances in the Company’s scoping-level study of chloride-based leaching to recover lithium from the claystone at its Clayton Valley Lithium Project. As described in the December 3rd and 16th2020 news releases, the Company initiated an investigation into chloride-based leaching and the potential economic and environmental benefits over sulfide-based leaching. Progress to date indicates a positive alternative to a sulfate-based approach and merits consideration for the Company’s upcoming pilot plant program.

Test work completed on 200- to 400-g samples of claystone used hydrochloric acid (HCl) and sodium chloride (NaCl) brine as the leach solution. Test results from this work determined the optimum parameters for leaching temperature, acid strength, and retention time. The data were used to conduct a test on a 33 kg sample of claystone which yielded greater than 81% extraction of the lithium into solution. The Company identifies this as a starting point for the pilot plant program to expand upon these results and demonstrate that they are sustainably operational on a larger scale.

Samples of the leach slurry were tested by Pocock Industrial, Inc. to address solid-liquid separation through standard and high-density thickeners, and vacuum and pressure filtration. The results indicate potential benefits that include faster filtration and settling rates with the utilization of standard thickeners and filtration equipment. The differences in settling and filtration rates also mean processing may be accomplished with significantly less make-up water. With the chloride-based approach, the leach solution is amenable to standard processes to recover the lithium and potentially other products.

“The Company is pleased with the results from our scoping study” said Cypress CEO Bill Willoughby. “Chloride-based leaching represents an alternative to sulfuric acid and could be impactful in the areas of economy, process and the environment. There are still important trade-offs to consider with respect to power and acid supply, as well as some remaining analyses, but this is an alternative that will most likely become the focus of the pilot plant program. This work is critical to our goal of advancing the Clayton Valley Lithium Project towards a feasibility study later this year.”

About Cypress Development Corp.:

Cypress Development Corp. is a publicly traded exploration company focused on developing the Company’s 100%-owned Clayton Valley Lithium Project in Nevada. Exploration and development by Cypress discovered a world-class resource of lithium-bearing claystone adjacent to the Albemarle Silver Peak mine, North America's only lithium brine operation. The size of the resource makes the Clayton Valley Project a premier source that has the potential to impact the supply of lithium for the fast-growing global energy storage battery market.
