Hypothetically speaking
Say a group of retail wants to increase a share price by 20% ; at least somone in the group would have to be willing to increase the bid by 20% and keep it there at the close.
You honestly think someone with a short position is going to be squeezed into covering becuase your running it up for a day to make a point?
Who is to say after a 20% increase in stock price, the short interest increases...
it becomes a question of who has more expectation of gain the short or long? Take a look at the chart for 4 years before you answe that quesion.
What I think is irrelivant but unless shareholders intend to support the stock higher indefinetely, short seller can continue increasing the short position with renewed interest
