BlackBerry IVY, is an innovative software platform that will allow automakers to provide a consistent and secure way to read vehicle sensor data, normalize it, and create actionable insights from that data - both locally in the vehicle and in the cloud. BlackBerry IVY will leverage BlackBerry QNX’s automotive software expertise and AWS’s broad portfolio of services, including IoT and machine learning. BlackBerry IVY will run on the edge, inside a vehicle’s embedded systems, but will be managed and configured from the cloud. With support for multiple operating systems and multi-cloud deployments, automakers will have the ability to deliver new features, functionality, and experiences to customers over the lifetime of their vehicles. IVY is a top C-level priority for BlackBerry and the centerpiece of our strategic vision to connect and secure automotive and IoT.

Are you the Senior Architect we are looking for?
Reporting to the Director, Field Application Engineering, you will be responsible for evangelizing an IVY solution and demonstrating how IVY will help our customers achieve their business goals. Utilising your knowledge of product architecture & functionality; as well as advanced software concepts, you will help onboard and support customers to drive their adoption of IVY. Our customer base is global, and you will be called on to represent IVY worldwide. We anticipate you will be travelling 50-60% of the time. You can be based anywhere in the UK, or Germany.
You will be confident in architecting complex, cloud solutions with Edge compute devices and being able to build and maintain strong technical and business relationships that enhance the execution of the BlackBerry product deployment.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Developing a strong understanding of IVY offering and platform, and the automotive connected solution design process and ecosystem.
- Understanding and advising what the full lifecycle of the BlackBerry IVY deployments for customers can be.
- Supporting Sales teams with high-level architecture recommendations during the pre-sales process.
- Understanding and communicating IVY’s “Solution Value” and technical details as it relates to the partners to onboard / support and their specific solution offerings.
- Serving as the subject matter expert to customers and BlackBerry Field Application Engineers (FAEs) and Consultants on optimal BlackBerry IVY deployment, products and configurations in unique and sophisticated customer environments.
- Developing and presenting comprehensive analysis and documentation of the customer’s current state of operations, and working with BlackBerry Technology Solutions (BTS) Engineering to provide recommendations for optimal deployment state.
- Collaborating with BlackBerry Labs, BTS Engineering and Product Management on emerging products and technologies.
- Ensuring that Technical Support cases opened during IVY engagements include complete descriptions of problem statements, to ensure efficient hand-off to Support teams.
- Gathering and providing relevant customer feedback (technical, business and operational) to the appropriate IVY functions to inform IVY platform strategy.
You will have the following technical skills:
- Proven experience working as a Cloud Architect (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- A good understanding of cloud-based services on AWS (SageMaker, IoT Core, ECS, S3, etc.).
- Experience with Edge Computing and Machine Learning (e.g. TensorFlow) both in the cloud and on the Edge device.
- Experience in implementing enterprise level software solutions.
- Professional experience using a variety of programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, C++, Ruby, R etc. in support of cloud application development.
- Experience with connected, embedded systems in IoT applications.
