The MIP is made by the tonne. It needs to be laid on a breathable substrate, many sq meters of it, and they cut into smaller squares for insertion into a mask.

The cost is certaily less than $1.00 and is reusable until the virus is identified. It is not a one use item.

When the virus is captured, and not many are required, the MIP/substrate changes colour.

The N98 does not trap the virus, it simply does not allow the virus through the filter.
