FORD and Blackberry still together

FORD and Blackberry still together
I actually spoke with investor relations on that news and you should definitely read this to get a better understanding of what it means. News articles are not DD, you find out the real truth when you research things yourself. Just remember there is a huge bias and low level of knowledge that 95% of these writers post articles with: With regards to the announcement that you reference:   The infotainment, “IVI” space has become very competitive over recent years. As John Wall, co-head of BTS, mentioned during the recent JP Morgan conference, BlackBerry QNX identified the trend towards more competition in infotainment around 5 years ago.  This led BlackBerry QNX to increase focus on safety & security. As a result of this focus BlackBerry QNX now has a larger advantage in safety critical systems.  We have reached the highest levels of functional safety (ISO 26262, ASIL D).  Far fewer players operate meaningfully in the safety critical space. Secular trends in recent years has led to more safety critical content in the car and this appears to be continuing, with systems such as ADAS, Instrument Clusters, Engine Control, etc. becoming more pervasive – both in a larger proportion of the SAAR (the number of cars produced each year), and also deeper into the car (i.e. more systems per car).  These safety critical systems are no longer the preserve of high ends brands / models in the range, but are now found in more entry-level models & brands. BlackBerry QNX’s hypervisor (see here) allows for multiple OS’s to coexist side by side.  This means that IVI being on a different OS can still run safely alongside QNX in safety-critical parts of the car.
