RE:RE:RE:It took a lot of time and money to confirm that excess sugarStanem yes TD1 is an autoimmune disease but the cause is unknown.  It appears to be a combo of genetics and environmental factors.  Inuit that historically consumed very low sugar diets actually have high rates of TD1 and the geographic distribution appears to increase with higher latitudes some suggest sunlight exposure.   I have a good friend with td1 who grew up in a very healthy household basically eating out of the garden.  He does however have TD1 running in the family.    Type 2 yes.
