RE:RE:Filminera B2Goldi am Filipino so i know how politics works a little in the philippines. it is all about bribes.
unfortunately, Duterte is not one to take one. but he is for the people.
if he thinks this mine is important to the people of Didipio or the surrounding area, he will approve this renewal.
Our natives are not as powerful as North American natives. their rights are just the same as regular Filipinos. because in reality we are all Filipinos.
and Duterte is a soft leader like Trudeau.
He will do what he thinks is right regardless of who is against it.
One thing going for OGC is that the Philippines because of the pandemic has no money. People are barely surviving.
Our main export which is people are out of work because of the pandemic. Cruise lines and people working abroad are staying at home with no income. Which has caused the government to run out of money. there is no more pandemic relief from the government.
so that being said, people needs work and government needs tax income.
the Kasibu region where Didipio resides only have about 37000 to 40000 people with 1500 good paying jobs got laid off.
I do believe Duterte wouldn't have any other choice than to renew this license. Not just for the tax purpose but for the people who lost their jobs. there are probably 10000 people relying on those 1500 people that lost their jobs. Because Filipinos are all about families. And we tend to share our wealth from 8 sisters and brothers to 20 grandson and daughters.
