It's one of those words that sounds like what it's describing...like nausea and exhilarating...
At one time English was the most descriptively fastidious language in the world.
An Orwellian concept, if I may, is that once people lose the means to conceptualize through a lack of vocabulary, they are easily manipulated and thus, obedient. The tools of communication, ie phones, have by their universal dissemination abetted homogeneity and a real trend to shoe gazing...but I digress.
