If we ignore weeds in the garden but eventually they overtake it. And the problem is that you might put him on ignore, but others don't, then they they might be swayed by his lies, or his cohort's lies. I completely respect your position but I believe a better response is to let it be known that lies and defamations about companies will not be tolerated on the board and in the courts.
