With WTI and Brent rising quickly as of late and with VET earnings due in 3 weeks. Why on God's green earth would someone want to short VET at this time??

1) Will WTI and Brent tank soon --- does someone know something?
2) Will earnings report disappoint? -- again, does someone know something?
3) Will Opec come out with sad news soon??
