A lot of money needs to be recouped from researching and developing the treatment and shareholders need to be compensated for their investment, otherwise why would anyone invest? Or develop treatments? On the other hand, gouging the sick to line your pockets is not acceptable. The original figure of $50,000 from Roger White was based on what it was thought patients would be willing to pay. How do you determine a fair price?
