RE:RE:RE:Ferndale Port -- Petrogas/Altagas FacilityGunnerG. With due respect… I am looking at the satellite imaginary of the wharf that Petrogas/Intalco exports from… there is only landing. The BP wharf to the north has 2 landings and Conoco due south has one .
Recall, Intalco is no longer using the wharf since it has closed the smelter. That allows Petrogas full access of the wharf. There is an upper limited of 48 landings on the wharf per year that must be adhered to Intalco/Petrogas.
Where is the propane that Petrogas exports come from? From the nearby refineries…(I think it would be a small amount from the refining process) , Canadian producers or from US producers? Why would US producers not be exporting through Ferndale?
There is a lot of potential for additional exports here..

GunnerG - (2/23/2021 9:44:29 PM) RE:RE:Ferndale Port -- Petrogas/Altagas Facility rfguysd, I think there are two wharfs there. One Ferndale and the other Alcoa Intalco.
Vesselfinder only shows ferndale while marinetraffic shows both.

Arrival Departure Vessel TYPE GT Barrels Propane

Feb17 Feb21 Cratis LPG 48963 622,000
*Assuming 12.7 barrels / metric tonne
*600,000 barrels /20days= 30,000 barrels / day implied throughput rate of Ferndale.
The port at Ferndale is idle except for the LPG tankers filling propane for Altagas. Ferndale could definately take on more exports to approach nameplate capacity. Recall the wharf was jointly shared with Intelco but Intelco has recently shutdown . I would think some capital spending to increase throughput might be a wise approach here.
Nameplate capacity 50k/day
Export license : 46k/day
Calculated rate of export :30k/day
