RE:Something to ponder

RE:Something to ponder

I think this is institutional buying and not retail...this could be another interested party accumulating for a counter bid...if you look at the chart it is flagging to the upside on slow and steady accumulation...i think another major player is building a stake to make a counteroffer or to squeeze for a higher price....t8me will tell and GLTA

In the 9 days since the hostile takeover was announce, 29 million shares have traded.

I estimate that in the 104 days left in the open offer period, the number of shares traded will rise to 148 million shares. (based on 2 million average per day)

None of these 148 million shares will be bought by Brookfield or any of their partners since they are prohibited from adding above 20% ownership by regulations issued in 2016.

That means 148 million shares will be purchased between 17.60 and 18.00.  (Of course there might be some overlap.)

Does anyone think the new owners of these 148 million shares will sell them for 16.50 when they paid 17.60+? There are not too many certainties in life but I'm confident in saying "Not a chance".

The majority of the investors who will vote are RETAIL.  Retail investor are more prone to loving IPL and loving the dream of Heartland.  At the same time they are prone to hate anything Brookfield.  (just read this board)  With fundamentals for world oil, the economy and the alberta oil patch rising quickly, how many more dollars will it take for these investors to vote yes?

I don't know the answer to that question.
