RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Mining in MexicoIt was a fair Q, based on an article published in a prominent moning publication. Let's play nice. I question the author of the article's headline, which seemed out of sync with rest of the piece.
Every mining jurisdiction has it's issues, but in my experience, Mexico is amongst the best. Permits get issued, a labour fore is available and Mexicans at all levels support responsible minng. It brings jobs and prosperity to far flung parts of the country, where opportuities for work are otherwise limited.
I've seen taxes levied on mining opperations change, but more or less in line with other jurisdictions. Ocassionally, someone makes a statement, or poposes a bill, that's not favourable to mining, or foreign investment, and it's always followed by a walk back. The #s - foreign investment, jobs, exports, etc., are too supportive of the industry as it's currently structured.
