AXE Q & A and moreAXE
Well data quoted in previous post is from the Alberta Energy Regulator application.
Further summary:
-Single well lay out of two horizontal heating legs with one horizontal producing well.
-Depth ~500m
-Horizontal Legs ~1100m
-Anticipated operating rate 20-60m3/day with maximum 100m3/day.
-42 month high to low pressure reservoir simulation.
-Past area production providing known geology overview.
From AXE website, this lay out is economically smallest option ($20M capital). SAGD is not viable at this scale, but AXE is and opens a vast market:
From AXE May 20, 2020 news release: …”Broadview looks forward to working with Acceleware ….said John Festival, Broadview’s CEO. “Broadview is excited to have a front row seat at the Marwayne test site…Acceleware’s RF XL technology as one of the biggest potential game-changers in heavy oil and bitumen recovery since SAGD (steam assisted gravity drainage) was commercialized over 20 years ago.”…
About Broadview
Broadview Energy (BVE) is a private oil and gas company focused on the development of heavy oil assets in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Through predecessor companies BlackRock Ventures, BlackCore Resources, BlackPearl Resources, Breaker Energy, and Renaissance Energy, Broadview’s principals have discovered, assessed, piloted, commercialized, acquired, and divested many heavy oil plays across Western Canada over the past +30 years.
From AXE June 30, 2020 news release: …Acceleware ran preparatory tests…culminating in a full 500 kW of RF power successfully delivered to the field test antenna system. Acceleware believes the 500 kW test represents an unprecedented level of RF power for any field test of an RF heating system designed for heavy oil production…“This test is significant not only because it sets a new benchmark for the level of power delivered into the ground, but perhaps more so because it has validated that our end-to-end system can operate at full power…we have dramatically increased our confidence that the complete eight module converter will be able to deliver two MW of power, and that our transmission lines can more than handle that power, all at our desired efficiency.”…
From AXE website: JLG Tech Day – June 2019 Presentation: The technology has been de-risked to a very low amount in my estimation. The adoption phase will be fast and robust.
This high efficiency RF technology may displace many lower efficiency legacy industrial and manufacturing RF use cases in food, plastics, agricultural, etc.
