Agreed Air Canada in fact was a state owned company for its first 50 years in business.  Then bailed out like every 10 years since.  When they are not being bailed out they were being protected from competition.  Heck I remember my early years in business for out of country you either flew Air Canada or Air Canada lol!  Also do not forget over the years even when the feds did not own the airlines the Quebec Pension Plan controlled them.  With all the jobs that went to Quebec over the years maybe AC and Transat should be getting bailed out by the Quebec Government.  Oops that won't work cause Quebec will just find a way to play with the books to get it back in Federal tranfer payments lol!
